About

About Alpha Gal Prep

Created and reviewed by an internal medicine physician practicing in Columbia, Missouri.

Alpha Gal Prep is a small, independent project that helps people understand alpha-gal syndrome and get organized for their care. Everything here is educational — tools and plain-English guides to help you prepare, verify, and communicate with your own care team, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Who's behind it

Alpha Gal Prep is created and reviewed by a practicing internal medicine physician based in Columbia, Missouri — a region where alpha-gal syndrome and the ticks associated with it are increasingly common. The site is written for patients and caregivers, drawing on both clinical experience and public-health and peer-reviewed sources.

The project is run under Columbia Software Works LLC. To keep the focus on the information rather than a personal brand, the physician author writes under the Alpha Gal Prep name. Using the site does not create a physician-patient relationship, and the content is not a substitute for care from your own clinician.

Why it exists

A new alpha-gal diagnosis can be overwhelming: reactions are often delayed hours after eating, mammal-derived ingredients hide in unexpected places, and reliable, plain-English guidance can be hard to find. Alpha Gal Prep exists to make those first weeks calmer and more organized — so you can walk into appointments prepared and make daily decisions with your care team more confidently.

How the content is made and reviewed

What Alpha Gal Prep is — and isn't

It is a set of educational tools, guides, and optional prep kits to help you organize and communicate. It isn't a diagnostic service, clinical decision support, or a medical device, and it doesn't tell you whether you have alpha-gal syndrome or whether something is safe for you.
